Students of the German program who were honored at the Honors Night of the Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics are featured on the website of the German Consulate General in Miami. The Consulate has generously sponsored their awards for this event.
Seven of the German Program's undergraduate students were selected for the "Summer Course on German Language and Culture" at the Carl von Ossietzky university in Oldenburg. Their focus will be on strengthening their linguistic skills in an intensive language course and immersing themselves in the culture.
One undergraduate student of the German program participates in the "Berlin Program" offered by Florida Atlantic University. The goal is cultural immersion and taking two academic courses.
Two undergraduate students successfully completed the summer program "Experiencing Germany" offered by Florida State University's International Programs in Dresden, Saxony, in May and June 2015. The program was taught by faculty from the German Program and the College of Music. Apart from intensive cultural immersion, it offered academic courses tied directly to cultural, intellectual, musical, artistic, and literary works created in or about Saxony by some of Germany's greatest thinkers and artists. The program will be offered again in summer 2016.
Two graduate students were selected competitively to participate in the 2015-2016 exchange of the Federation of German-American Clubs [VDAC] at the universities of Wuerzbug and Duisburg.
