Teaching Assistants

Taylor Fisk

Taylor Fisk graduated with her B.A. in German and International Affairs from FSU in Spring 2015 and is now pursuing a master’s degree in German Studies. During her undergraduate career she studied abroad at the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg during the summer semester and, funded by an award from the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), at the Universität Leipzig. This experience led to her research interest in the former East Germany and the effects of that divide today. She is also interested in German literature and translation as well as art history.

Outside of her academic studies, Taylor enjoys traveling, watching Seminoles football, and spending time with her cats, Steve and George.

Courtney Hickey holds a B.A. in International Affairs and German Studies awarded by Florida State University in Spring 2014. She currently works as a Teaching Assistant in the Modern Languages Department while pursuing her M.A. in German Studies. Her academic interests are varied, but include German and American propaganda during WWII, sociolinguistics in media, and folkloric poetry.

Courtney is spending the academic year 2015-2016 at Würzburg University through the VDAC Exchange.

Katja Meyer graduated with her B. Sc. in Psychology from University of Ulm, Germany, in Summer 2015. Afterwards, she started her M. Sc. in Psychology in Freiburg, Germany. Currently, she takes a break from her psychology studies to broaden her horizons by pursuing a Master’s degree in German Studies at Florida State University. Katja was offered the program by the VDAC (Federation of German-American Clubs) exchange and works now as a German Teaching Assistant in the Modern Languages and Linguistics Department. Outside of her academic studies, she likes dancing, reading, and various activities in the nature.

Benjamin Rangel

Benjamin Rangel graduated with a B.A. in German from FSU in Fall 2015 and is now pursuing a Master’s degree in German Studies. In the summer semester 2013, he studied at the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg. Aside from being a full time graduate student and Teaching Assistant, Ben enjoys cycling, running, and reading.

Sarah Tremper

Sarah Tremper received her B.A. in German and French from Florida State University and is currently working on her M.A. in German Studies. Her academic interests are diverse but include modern language and history. Outside of her studies, she’s an avid reader and runner who travels whenever possible.

Rebekka White holds a B.A. in Philosophy and German Studies from Florida State University. She is interested in the development and application of interdisciplinary approaches and the study of discursive practices.

Rebekka's current research includes the study of transnational social movements, Post-Colonial perspectives, and gender construction in literary narratives.
