Location: Tianjin

Tianjin is a cosmopolitan port city located in northeast China by the Bohai Gulf, about 30 minutes' train from Beijing. With a rich tradition of culture and a population of 12 million, it has been a major commercial and industrial center in north China. The importance of Tianjin was reaffirmed in May 2006 as the Chinese government officially designated Tianjin as the primary engine for the further economic development of north China. The FSU Summer Study-Abroad Program based at TFSU offers students a valuable chance to study Chinese language and culture. At classes students will engage with instructors versed in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, allowing them to study both the language and culture. Students will participate in several trips to major cultural and heritage sites, like the bustling capital of Beijing, the landmark Great Wall, and the historic Terra Cotta Warriors Museum in Xi’an. In conjunction with the academic classes and excursions, students will be immersed in the daily life of cosmopolitan Tianjin and uniquely positioned to foster meaningful relationships with locals in this emerging world power.

The program fee covers 1) tuition, 2) dormitory rent, 3) everyday meals, 4) group pick-up at the Beijing airport, 4) cost for all cultural excursions including transportation, meals on the road, hotel, and entrance tickets. The fee does not include international airfare.  Students will be housed in the foreign-students dormitory on the main campus of Tianjin Foreign Studies University. The standard double room has bathroom, air-conditioner, phone, Internet connection (wire), and satellite TV.
